TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Agus D.W. Martowardojo predicted that the month-to-month inflation rate in May 2016 would reach 0.19 percent.
The prediction is based on the survey done by Bank Indonesia.
Low inflation happened after the index of consumers’ price (monthly) in April this year showed a deflation of 0.45 percent.
"Inflation rate is quite posutuve. From the survey done by BI, it is estimated to reach 0.19 percent,” Agus said on Friday.
Agus is also optimistic that the year on year (yoy) inflation in May will reach 3.3 percent below the inflation rate in April, which was recorded at 3.6 percent.
He added that inflation pressure from horticulture commodities has eased, such as the price of shallot this month. The drop of the price of this commodity is believed to become the main factor that lowers the inflation.
