Jokowi to Speak in Front of G-7 Leaders Today

TEMPO.CO, Ise Shima - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Friday will be giving a speech in the G-7 Outreach Meeting Summit in Ise Shima, Japan.  In front of head of states of the G-7 members, Jokowi will be talking about Asia’s stability and welfare.

Jokowi will be giving a speech during the first session of the Outreach Meeting about 9:45.  “President will be one of the lead speaker for the first session, while the second session is the Sustainable Development Goals 2030,” said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in Ise-Shima, Japan, on Friday, May 27.

The G-7 Outreach Meeting Summit is attended by seven head of states of the G-7 member including US President Barack Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francoise Hollande, Canadian President Justin Trudeau, Japanese PM Shinzo Abe, British PM James Cameron, and Italian PM Matteo Renzi.

Indonesia became a guest in the G-7 Outreach Summit along with other countries including Vietnam, Laos, Papua New Guinea, and Sri Lanka.  President Communication Team Aria Dwipayana say those are the countries believe to have good economic growth within the last few years.  This is why Indonesia is invited.

Foreign Minister Reto Marsudi said today on the sidelines of the G-7 Outreach Meeting, that President Jokowi will also be conducting a bilateral meeting with PM Shinzo Abe and President Francoise Hollande.  Yesterday night, Jokowi has conducted a bilateral meeting with the President of Sri Lanka.  Both discuss on how to increase economic cooperation.
