TEMPO.CO, Brebes - Central Java Police has announced that it will deploy drones to monitor traffic conditions along Java's Northern Coastal Road (Pantura). "We have prepared eight units - three of which will be deployed across Pantura," said Central Java Police's Director for Traffic, Sr. Comr. Herukoco, during an inspection of the Pejagan-Pemalang Tollway in East Brebes on Wednesday, May 25, 2016.
The deployment of the drones, Herukoco added, was expected to allow authorities to immediately spot and control traffic flow across several congestion-prone zones across Pantura - including Pejagan's Tollway exit, as well as several other locations around East Brebes.
According to Herukoco, Central Java Police have also prepared directions to alternative routes that motorists could use when severe congestion occurs. "We will also maximize road capacity by applying the contraflow system - both towards the east, as well as the west when motorists begin to return from their hometowns," he said.
With regards to the readiness of Pantura's infrastructure, Herukoco said that several areas - especially around Kendal, Pekalongan, and Tegal - still needs to be finished - if not, improved. "We are doing our best to ensure that the Sipait Bridge in Pekalongan and Kalipah Bridge in Tegal will be ready when the homecoming season begins," he said.
