TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - During the 66th Congress of the Federation International Football Association (FIFA) in Mexico City on Friday (13/5), FIFA has decided to lift the suspension on Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) from international soccer competitions.
"The Indonesian government welcomes the decision and hopes that we can improve national soccer, especially in its organizational management, youth development program and transparency," said Gatot S Dewa Broto, Head of Public Communication of the Ministry of Youth and Sports on Saturday.
FIFA decision was made after the Government on Tuesday (May 10) lifted a decree that suspended the PSSI.
"The Indonesian Government has advised us that the decree that caused the suspension has been lifted," FIFA President Gianni Infantino said on Friday.
For the record, FIFA banned the association in May last year after a long dispute between the government and the PSSI over which teams should be entered into the top domestic league.
