TEMPO.CO, Jayapura-Shallot prices in a number of traditional markets in Jayapura City, Papua, reach Rp80,000 per-kilogram.
“Its previous price was at Rp53,000/kg and now have jumped to Rp80,000/kg, while garlic is up to Rp75,000/kg,” Handayani, a spices and herbs seller in Jayapura said on Monday, May 2, 2016.
Prices of local onions and onions originating from outside of Papua have gone up.
“I usually order shallot and garlic from Surabaya. I also also sell local onions,” said Handayani.
Another spices and herbs seller in Youtefa Abepura Market, Muryono, said the shallot prices ranged between Rp79,000 – Rp80,000 per-kilogram, agreeing that the shallot prices are up. "All the merchants sell it with similar price," he said.
