TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the Commission III overseeing legal and human rights issues of the House of Representatives (DPR-RI) Bambang Soesatyo said that taxpayers must be given understanding as to why the government and the DPR are going to implement the tax amnesty law.

For the record, the tax amnesty bill is now currently being deliberated at the DPR.

"After we’ve discussed urgency and benefits of the law to a number of ministries an institutions, President Joko Widodo needs to disseminate urgency and beenfits of the law to the people,” Bambang said on Sunday.

The dissemination, Bambang said, is needed to prevent misunderstanding about the law and if that happens, taxpayers will be against it.

"Those taxpayers will delay or refuse to pay taxes because they will assume that they will also enjoy tax amnesty some day,” he added.
