TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Bandung Mayor Ridwan “Emil” Kamil said that he has hold talks with an American tech company, Apple. The company built up by Steve Jobs is planned to open a branch office in Bandung.
“Bandung city administration is planning to work closely with Apple to open its office in Indonesia, it is to be tried in Bandung,” Ridwan Kamil said yesterday at Bandung City Hall.
The architect who graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, the U.S., plans to allocate a space at the new parking building which is to be built at Jalan Gelapnyawang. However, the parking building is no ordinary one; it will feature robotic technology.
“Apple has once again chosen the city which is the most prepared [to work with]. I have lodged a bid that Bandung is the most ready,” he said.
Emil added that the high-tech parking building will soon be built as the winning bidder on the investment is about to be decided. The building, which is expected to house 800 cars, will stand five stories tall with commercial spaces at the top of the building.
“I will soon hold a grounbreaking [ceremony],” he said.
Emil also explained other reason for providing space for Apple in the location: “Since it has to be close to universities. Apple required us [to build the building] not in a university, but close to university [buildings],” he said.
