Furniture Industry Grow 7.93% in Second Quarter

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The furniture industry grow 7.93 percent in the second quarter of 2015, higher than the same period in the previous year, which amounted to 3.74 percent.
“The Ministry of Industry promote national furniture domestically and internationally in Europe, America and China; in exhibitions such as IFEX 2016 and InterDex 2016," said Agroindustry Director General Panggah Susanto in a statement on Wednesday, October 14.
He said the effort is aimed to strengthen Indonesian furniture image as environmentally friendly products.
Meanwhile, furniture exports until June 2015 amounted to 361.03 million US dollars and imports in the same period amounted to 77.86 million US dollars.
This means, furniture commodity trade balance recorded a surplus until mid 2015, at a value of 283.17 million US dollars.In total, in 2013 the value of exports of wood and rattan furniture nationwide reached 1.8 billion US dollars and increased in 2014 to 2.2 billion US dollars.
Exports of wood furniture and processed rattan in the next five years is predicted to reach 5 billion US dollars.
This industry has contributed to the growth performance of the national industry. Non-oil processing industry grew by 5.27 percent, higher than the economic growth in the second quarter 2015 amounted to 4.67 percent.
