TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta's Agency for Public Housing and Government Buildings have allocated Rp150 billion to rehabilitate public, commissioned housing across the capital in 2016 - 10 times the budget that was allocated in 2015.
"It is quite a significant jump,"said the Head of the Public Housing and Government Buildings Agency, Ika Lestari Adji, to Tempo on Monday, October 5, 2015.
The fund, continued Ika, will be used to repair seven public housings - namely the Cipinang Besar Selatan, Marunda, Penjaringan, Sukapura, Flamboyan, Muara Baru and Komaruddin housing. "The repairs will be much more optimal compared to the ones carried out last year," Ika said.
Ika also said that auction process for the repairs will be done earlier - hopefully in the first quarter of 2016. "Once the budget is agreed, we will immediately start the auction process," she said.
In response to the increased budget, a Committee member of the Regional Representatives Council (DPRD) of Jakarta, Prabowo Soenirman, said that Rp150 billion is simply too much. "Repairs don't cost that much, especially considering that repairs are done annually," he said.
