Minister Rudi Promotes Digital Industry Development

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara said that he will continue to support the development of digital industry in Indonesia "The [Communication and Informatics Ministry] will not complicate start up companies registration," Rudiantara said on Monday, October 5, 2015. The minister said that the regisration will be intended to identify the number of digital startup companies in the country.
Start up companies are new companies specializing in information technology that use the internet as their platform and produce digital products, such as web applications or web services. These companies mainly engage in the market research and development phase.
According to Rudi, his ministry is committed to create several start up unicorn companies in the near future. "The key in establishng start up companies is the right regulation to ensure security," the Minister said.
Recently, a Chinese-based e-commerce company Baidu had visited Indonesia to provide the opportunity for developers to share experiences and learn how to develop business platforms overseas, especially in China.
