TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Makassar Culinary Night Ramadan held at City Hall Street Makassar is crowded by residents of Makassar. The event is held with the cooperation of Deputy Development Field and Tourism Marketing Archipelago, Tourism Ministry, and Makassar Government Tourism Office. The event will be enliven by 43 participants from some hotels and restaurants.
Various foods from fishes become the main menu that are served to the participants. Other than that, traditional snacks including barongko, onde-onde and baurasa become an attractive option for visitors. “This can be done once a month. If done routinely, we can assist from the headquarter to promote nationally, and even abroad,” Deputy Development Field and Tourism Marketing Archipelago Esthy Reko Astuty said last Saturday.
Eshty said this type of activity will be held in 15 cities in Indonesia. Makassar is the first city to host the event.
Visitors can witness the expertise of 15 chefs from restaurants and hotels in Makassar who are the participants in the culinary contest. Chef Juna will also make its appearance in the event.
Makassar Mayor Mohammad Ramadhan Pomanto said this kind of activity aims to enrich Makassar’s authentic culinary treasure. There are plenty of variant and culinary taste of Makassar that has not been known to public. “Meanwhile, we will organize it once every three months,” he said.
In each event, new authentic foods will be discovered. For now, pallu kaloa, pallu mara and various fish dishes authentic of Makassar are presented.
