TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Interior Minister Tjahjo Kumolo proposed an increase in political party budget in the 2016 Ministerial Budget Draft.
"The President will determine whether this proposal can be included in State Budget, or not," said Tjahjo at the House of Representative (DPR) office on Thursday, June 25, 2015.
The political party budget, based on Government Regulation No. 5/2009 on Financial Aid for Political Parties, will be calculated based on the number of votes earned by each party during the general election.
Tjahjo believed that the increasing political party budget can help to eliminate potential corruption within the party. "If necessary, the government can fund all activities, be it operational and electoral preparation," Tjahjo said.
