TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Blackberry has launched a new certificate service making its smartphones super safe and expects to secure them.
Certicom, a subsidiary of BlackBerry offering the service said to have received authority to issue the security certificate service in England. It also claimed to have issued 104 million security certificates to household smart devices.
Blackberry has long been mentioned to be one of the safest smartphones. U.S. President Barrack Obama also uses a Blackberry device for security reasons, not an Android or iPhone device.
According to Certicom, the service will make it much easier for companies releasing such devices to authenticate and secure them.
BlackBerry also outlined a plan to expand its research and development efforts on innovation and improvement in computer security. The initiative is called BlackBerry Center for High Assurance Computing Excellence (CHACE).
Increased network and device security has become a focus for large North American companies in facing security breaches or cyber attacks.
Through CHACE, Blackberry plans to develop tools and techniques that allows a far higher level of protection than the security system that is currently available.
