Sampoerna Sales Surpasses Rp11tn in First Quarter

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Cigarette sales of PT H.M. Sampoerna Tbk along the first quarter of 2015 has grown 11.6 percent compared to the same period last year driven by machine-rolled cigarettes sales.
Based on the Public Expose material in the Jakarta Stock Exchange (BEJ) mentions that the company’s cigarette net sales (excluding customs) is recorded at Rp11.93 trillion or grew 11.6 percent compared to the same period last year.
The selling expense also grew by 11.3 percent to Rp6.47 trillion from Rp5.81 trillion, making the company’s net profit a bit restrained.
The company’s net profit is recorded at Rp2.9 trillion or grew 5.2 percent compared to the previous period of Rp2.75 trillion.
Along the period, the company’s cigarette sales volume reaches 27.7 billion cigarettes or up by 8.6 percent compared to the first quarter of 2014 that is around 25.5 billion cigarettes. The highest sales were contributed by machine-rolled cigarettes (SKM) reaching 18 billion cigarettes or up from its previous period of 15.5 billion cigarettes.
Machine-rolled white cigarettes (SPM) only grew from 3.9 billion to 4 billion cigarettes. Meanwhile, the company’s hand-rolled cigarettes (SKT) slumped from 6.1 billion to 5.7 billion cigarettes.
