TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - International bike race event, the Tour de Banyuwangi Ijen, is to return this year on May 6 to 9, 2015.
Tourism Minister, Arief Yahya, said that the ministry highly supports the event, which is under the Youth and Sports Ministry. He said that the activity plays a greater part in boosting tourism in Indonesia. The number of tourists coming for the event is most certainly an advantage for Banyuwangi, the Sunrise of Java.
“Sport tourism like Tour de Ijen has a great impact towards promoting tourism destination like in Banyuwangi. This event is also a part of Wonderful Indonesia and Pesona Indonesia branding,” he said.
Tour de Ijen 2015 is the fourth series, since the event first kicked off in 2012. The series has also been included in the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). This year only, 27 nations are set participate, including top nations like France, United States, and Japan.
