TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) chairman Suryo Bambang Sulistio said economic potential of Asian-African countries was growing significantly. The total population of both continents now comprises two-thirds of world’s population.
“It is expected to reach more than US$1 trillion by 2020,” said Suryo at the Asian-African Business Summit at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on Tuesday, April 21, 2015.
Regarding cooperation with African countries, Suryo said the manufactured product sector was among the promising sectors for trade with African countries, besides textile, electronics, shoe and automotive product sectors. He added trade with Africa was at present still relatively small, but it could increase by two to three times.
The Asian-African Business Summit is attended by 600 businessmen—400 from foreign countries and 200 from Indonesia. Suryo hoped the event could boost awareness and knowledge of businessmen about other markets.
