Trade Ministry: Liquors Still Sold at Tourist Destinations

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Trade Ministry has made a technical guidance on the Regulation of the Ministry of Trade Number 06/M-DAG/PER/1/2015 on the ban to sell alcoholic drunks in mini markets or retailers.

The regulation takes effect on April 16, 2015.

In the guidance, it is stated that regions that have tourist destinations are allowed to sell alcoholic drinks at mini markets or retailers.

Director General of Domestic Trade Srie Agustina said that the technical guidance is made so that the Ministry can monitor the selling of alcoholic drunks in mini markets and retailers on the whole.

"So it’s not especially for Bali or East Nusa Tenggara,” Srie said on Thursday.

According to Srie, there are 16 regions in Bali that are tourist destinations and there are 600 retailers that sell beers or alcoholic drinks to foreign tourists. With the technical guidance,  Srie said, foreign tourists will not find difficulties buying alcoholic drinks.
