TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 16 buildings in Kota Tua area in West Jakarta will be renovated and converted to accommodate creative and commercial activities.
Revitalization of the Kota Tua area was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between PT Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia (PPI) as owner of the buildings, and PT Pembangunan Kota Tua Jakarta (Jakarta Old Town Revitalization Corporation/JOTRC) as the developer in Wisma ITC Central Jakarta on Tuesday, March 31, 2015.
Lin Che Wei, PT Pembangunan Kota Tua Jakarta CEO, said that all of the buildings are located on Jalan Kalibesar Timur Raya, Jalan Kalibesar Timur IV, Jalan Pintu Besar Utara and Jalan Malaka.
"There are actually 17 buildings to be revitalized, but only 16 has valid building permit," Lin said.
Lin said the revitalization of Kota Tua buildings requires more than Rp 150 billion. Out of the 16 buildings, seven are badly damaged.
Lin said that the buildings revitalization project will involve architects such as Andra Matin, Yori Antar, Ichsan Harja Nugraha, and the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) based in Rotterdam, Netherland.
The project is scheduled to be completed within two years.
