TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Directorate General of Customs and Excise has earmarked Rp579.42 billion cover the import duty of 18 industry sectors. The policy is aimed at allowing industries to produce more efficiently, improve competitiveness, and meet the domestic demand.
"This is to support local manufacturing," Heru Pambudi, director of revenue and regulations, said on Tuesday, March 24.
The government will not subsidize goods that are already given a zero percent import duty, temporary anti-dumping duties, security measures duty, reward duties, and of retaliation duties. Goods and materials imported by a company to be hoarded in bonded storages will also be exempted from this facility.
Eighteen categories of goods that will receive this facility include downstream chemical industry goods, resin goods, carpets and tapestries, bicycle, intravenous therapy (IV) equipment, stationeries, large instruments, hospital instruments, motor vehicles, agricultural equipment, ship repair tools and parts, cacao, fodder, electronic components, optical fiber cables, steam turbine power plants, and smart cards.
