TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Pertamina has asked the government to agree on the increase of subsidized 3-kg LPG gas price by Rp1,000. PT Pertamina market director Ahmad Bambang said the price has to rise to reduce the price disparity with non-subsidized LPG.
Besides that, Pertamina suffered a loss because it sells 3-kg LPG. “If the government raises the price by Rp1,000, it will be good enough,” he said on Wednesday.
Energy Ministry’s acting director general for oil and gas, I Gusti Wiratmaja, said he has prepared calculation for 3-kg LPG price. The government is still reviewing whether to increase the price or provide special subsidy.
Gusti said LPG price should be increased because the rise of consumption rate that causes high subsidy cost and the cost of LPG distribution that has remained the same since 2009.
