TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – In welcoming Christmas and the New Year, Bank Indonesia (BI) will distribute money amounting to Rp542,8 trillion to Rp566,4 trillion, which is up to 13.3 percent higher than the 2013 holiday season's Rp500 trillion. The increase is expected to meet the actual demand for corporate budgets, payrolls, and holiday allowances.
"BI's money supply is sufficient for the year-end cash need," BI director for currency management Dian Karmila said yesterday.
On Monday, Bank Rakyat Indonesia corporate secretary Budi Satria said the bank has prepared Rp23.38 trillion in cash to anticipate the people's needs during the long holiday of Christmas and New Year 2015.
Budi estimated his customers' cash need this holiday would rise by 16 percent compared to last year's Rp20.24 trillion. "Most of the cash is distributed in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi, with a total value of Rp5.87 trillion," he said.
