TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Car models always keep changing every year.  Some are replaced by new variants and some just changed model but with the same engine.  However, many models also disappear from the market due to it no longer be manufactured or to be discontinued.

There is many reasons that a company would stop producing a particular type of car.  One of its common reason is that it does not sell well.  Other reason is that to replace the old model with a new model with the addition of some costly new technology.

In the U.S., several models will not live to see 2015.  Here is the list:

1. Toyota FJ Cruiser

Sport utility vehicle (SUV) Toyota FJ Cruiser emerged in the U.S market since 2006.  Not long after its launch, its sales sky rocket to becoming 56,225 units.  However, sales continue to slump, with a big possibility of it not being able to compete with rivals Hummer or other new models of Jeep.

2. Mazda2

The old model of Mazda2 will no longer be produced due to a facelift.  For the U.S market, Mazda2 will experience in a renovation and its latest design will be manufactured in Mexico.  Mazda2’s newest model is scheduled to be displayed next year.

3. Chevrolet Captiva

General Motors introduced Chevrolet Captiva in 2011.  Initially, the Captiva was released for commercial purposes and rental service needs.  Its peak sales occured back in 2013 with 47,600 units.  However, its production has been discontinued due to Chevrolet having many models for an SUV medium-class.

4. Acura TSX dan TL

Acura, a luxury sub-brand of Honda Motor Company, will discontinue its Acura TSX and TL sedan models starting this year.  The two will be replaced by Acura TLX which has a thick sporty nuance.

5. Nissan Murano

In the U.S, Nissan Murano’s CrossCabriolet version will be discontiued starting this year.  The model with a retractable roof appeared to have poor sales compared to the regular crossover version.  The standard version is quite popular outside the U.S region.
