TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- R. Sukhyar, Director General of Mineral and Coal (Minerba), said that are 4,600 mining business permits (IUP) that are on the verge of being revoked, because they have not received a clean and clear status from the government.

"If the status has not changed, we will revoke the permits by the end of this year," said Sukhyar on Tuesday, December 16, 2014.

Sukhyar said that the government is planning to give clean and clear status to 12 mining companies across 12 provinces until the end of December 2014. Meanwhile, for mining companies the other 21 provinces, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has set a deadline until June 2015.

One of the 12 prioritized provinces was Bangka Belitung. Sukhyar said that he plans to visit mining companies in the area that has not received a clean and clear status. He also said that the province is one of the areas with the least progress in terms of clean and clear certification.

Minister of Energy Sudirman Said said that he will impose sanctions towards companies who do not comply with the policy. The sanction will apply for all companies without exception.
