The Mayor of London will build on his work to create jobs and growth, and promote London to the world as a major investment destination as he leads a trade mission to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta this week.
In Jakarta, the visit is aimed at boosting trade and swapping best practice between London and Jakarta in sectors key to both cities’ development such as infrastructure, technology, e-commerce and financial services.
The Mayor is joined by representatives from iconic British businesses, who will have the opportunity to make contacts and exchange expertise with their Indonesian counterparts.
During his visit, the Mayor will meet the Indonesian President Joko Widodo and the Governor of Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, host a reception for British business, and take part in Jakarta’s much loved Car Free Day.
Mayor Boris Johnson said: “It is vital to continue to bang the drum loudly for London’s status as a world class destination for business, jobs and innovation. The truly dynamic cities of Jakarta, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur are delivering exciting infrastructure and regeneration at a fast pace and are the perfect partners for London to share knowledge and expertise across many important sectors. By strengthening ties here in Jakarta we secure long standing relationships that will form the basis of an abundance of opportunities for Londoners and people from Indonesia to work together on future possibilities."
