TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Christopher Nolan's latest feat 'Interstellar' has caused a number of questions, particularly on the science-fiction field. The most intriguing question often asked is upon the existence of wormhole.
As depicted in Interstellar, a group of astronauts left earth in mankind’s last-ditch effort to find another habitable planet. In the attempt to do so, they went on a journey through a wormhole to another galaxy far away.
Theoretically, wormhole does exist, yet no men can fit in it. Astrophysicist Kip Thorne said that wormhole is actually a very thin layer of wall, separating two areas with extreme gravity pull. Therefore, he rejected the idea that a person can get through it.
Space Reporter wrote that wormhole, connecting the black hole and the white hole on the other end, is a theory first developed by Albert Einstein and his assistant Nathan Rosen. Einstein-Rosen theory was first published in a journal in 1935, stating that wormhole is a tunnel connecting two areas of different space and time.
