TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 2014 Indonesian Film Festival (FFI) roadshow in Malang, East Java, was packed by hundreds of film fans, cinematographers, and film enthusiasts to watch four films that were screened in the Ringin Asri restaurant, Malang.
“The films are good and inspiring,” said Lefin, a film enthusiast from Malang.
After watching two films entitled ‘Tabularasa’ and ‘Onomastika’, Lefin said that he felt challenged to make similar film that explores richness of nature, culture, and tradition.
“There are so many culture that can be explored. Now it is drowned by popularity of Korean and Western films,” Lefin added.
According to Lefin, Indonesian film makers have mostly explored horror ideas rather than cultural aspects. They make horror films just to fulfil the market wish.
Yan Wijaya, the organizer of FFI 2014 said that many local film makers have now started to produce their films exploring local culture and tradition.
