TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Amien Rais from the National Mandate Party (PAN) said that PAN might have the odds in joining Jokowi's coalition. "Politics is dynamic and creative," he said.
Previously, researcher of the Society for Indonesian Parliament Forum, Lucius Karus, said that PAN is a pragmatic party.
PAN, identical with reformation view, wants to return power to the hand of people – as such is the Prosperous and Justice Pary (PKS). However, both PAN and PKS are in the Red-and-White Coalition, allegedly a part of the new order era.
Therefore, Lucius believes that the party's idealism has shifted to pragmatic, as reflected in the sharing power venture. He then said that PAN and Amien Rais have jumped in a pragmatic stance, with no chance of joining the other side.
