TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Royal Malaysian Air Force, in coordination with Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, is continuing the search for a missing Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), which has been missing since Sunday, October 5, 2014.
However, as reported by Xinhua, torrential rains and bad weather conditions have forced the authorities to halt the search operation for the ship and its seven crews, lead by Lt. Azri Bakar.
The CB90 battleship left the RMN base in Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, around 05.00 local time on Sunday, heading towards RMN's Fifth Station in the South China Sea. However, around 11.15 local time its accompanying vessel, KD Paus, lost all contact with the battleship.
According to a statement made by the Commander of the Malaysian Navy, Abdul Aziz Jaafar, the conditions at sea around Mengalum Island in Sabah was rough when contact was lost.
To date, the Royal Malaysian Air Force, along with the MMEA, has deployed two ships and AW139 airplane for the search operation.
