TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Fiorentina have confirmed that Mario Gomez will be absent for three weeks due to a potential thigh injury.
The Germany international played a full 90 minute game on Sunday's Serie A clash against Atalanta in Bergamo but the Viola have now revealed that the striker will be facing a short spell on the sidelines.
"ACF Fiorentina can confirm that in the closing stages of the Atalanta v Fiorentina match, Mario Gomez sustained a grade one injury to the myotendinous junction of the flexor tendons in his right thigh," read a statement on the club's official website.
"This diagnosis was confirmed by medical checks carried out today.
"Gomez has already started treatment on the injury, and will undergo more tests in 10 days.
"He is expected to return to full fitness within three weeks."
Gomez, who had yet to score for Fiorentina this season, has been surrounded by injury problems since he joined Artemio Franchi from Bayern Munich last summer.
