TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Megawati Soekarnoputri claimed she had not considered to once again step forward in connection with the change of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) chairperson at the party's congress next year. “The congress is in April 2014. It is still ages away,” she said on Friday evening, September 19, during sidelines at the party's National Working Meeting at Marina Convention Center in Semarang.
The party's branch in Central Java has stated their support for Megawati to take office again as the party's chairperson. Although the congress is still in one year, the regional administrator's voice that urges Megawati to step forward again as PDIP chairperson has gained attention from many people.
Central Java PDI-P head Heru Sudjatmoko said she is very eligible to take the position. “We request Mega to become a chairperson again,” he uttered. Heru said the party's leader has be be held by someone who has similar qualities with first Indonesian President, Soekarno.
