TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Head of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Drajad Wibowo, said that the party should stay as part of the Merah Putih Coalition. "No, we are not approaching [PDI-P]," said Drajad, upon asked if PAN has made an approach towards the National Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).
However, Drajad said that communications between PAN and PDI-P were normal. "[…] but PAN has its own internal mechanism, so does PDIP," he said.
"Jokowi-JK has the mandate from people to lead as executives. Therefore, the parliament must observe, criticize, but not hamper [the government," he said when asked whether PAN will support PDI-P in drafting a policy on reducing fuel subsidy.
Didi Supriyanto, PAN's Head of Advocy Department, added that PAN will remain in the Merah Putih Coalition. Furthermore, he claimed that both PDI-P and Jokowi have been acting strange for asking the government to increase fuel price. "They were persistent in [refusing] to increae fuel price, now they act in the opposite," he said.
