TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Surabaya is planning on developing Tram for transportation. The project is planned to be joined with a 24-kilometer monorail.
The National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) deputy for infrastructure development Dedy Supriadi Priatna said the tram way project was stretched from the northern region to Tanjung Perak Harbor until the southern region in Wonokromo. "Its fund has been included in the 2015 state budget," he said at his office yesterday.
The transportation will cross 27 stations starting from Wonokromo station to Sono Kembang. "It is the first for Indonesia," Dedy uttered. Moreover, during its journey, the Surabaya government is planning on developing the 24-kilometer monorail. "I don’t know where their meeting point yet," said Dedy.
For the monorail, the project started from Lidah Kulon region until Keputih Depo. There will be 25 stations in total in one journey. "Its investment is predicted to be around US$1 billion [or Rp 10 trillion]," said Dedy.
Bappenas' Transportation Director Bambang Prihartono said pre-feasibility studies for the Surabaya government’s ambitious projects are currently carried out by the government. "We will try to complete them by September," Bambang said.
