TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Around 427 police personnels have been ordered to secure the office of Jakarta's Governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo at the City Hall on Jl. Medan Merdeka Selatan today as MK prepares to announce its ruling on the election result dispute case this afternoon.
Jakarta Police Chief for Legal Affairs, Police Sr. Comr. Kadarusman said the personnel consist of members of the Mobile Brigade, Sabhara crowd control units, intelligence agents, and criminal investigators of the Jakarta Police.
"The mobile brigade is backed up by a unit from Central Java as ordered by the police chief," said Kadarusman after a security briefing at the City Hall, Jakarta.
The City Hall is a vital object that needs to be secured, along with the Constitutional Court (MK) and the Ministry for Religious Affairs where the Election Organiser Ethics Council (DKPP) is due to convene today.
Apart from placing security personnel on standby at these locations, Jakarta Police have also prepared three tactical vehicles on the grounds of the City Hall.
Police have also swept the area for suspicious items and found no object of concern.
"So far the situation is safe and under control," said Kadarusman.
Police are anticipating the possibility of mass movements towards the City Hall where president-elect Jokowi maintains an office.
The MK is slated to announce its ruling on the Presidential election result dispute case this afternoon at 2 p.m. Many supporters of the Prabowo-Hatta presidential ticket have passed in front of the City Hall en route to MK in order to hear the proceedings.
