TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Hendry Yatna, the coordinator of Geber Prabowo—a group of volunteers supporting defeated presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto—said Prabowo’s decision to withdraw from the electoral process on Tuesday was an act of a knight.
“A knight always fights against all forms of injustice. Prabowo challenged the General Elections Commission because it was unfair and failed to follow-up on the Elections Supervisory Committee’s (Bawaslu) recommendation to hold re-elections in a number of districts and municipalities in Indonesia,” he said on Tuesday, July 22, 2014.
Geber Prabowo, consisting of Prabowo’s volunteers spread across 24 provinces and 75 regencies and municipalities, has called the General Elections Commission (KPU) for re-elections.
“This could become a time bomb ready to explode if the KPU doesn’t carry out re-elections as soon as possible. Several Geber Prabowo camps in regions felt they had been treated unfairly by regional KPUs,” Hendry said.
Hendry said Geber Prabowo volunteers would continue pressuring the KPU by means abiding by the constitution until their demand was fulfilled.
