TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) sets to probe the former income tax director at the Finance Ministry’s Directorate General of Taxes, Sumihar Petrus Tambunan, over an allegation of a corruption case involving Bank Central Asia’s (BCA) tax objection.
"He will be questioned as a witness in relation to suspect HP [Hadi Poernomo]," said the commission’s chief of communication and information, Priharsa Nugraha, earlier today.
In 2003, Sumihar was said to have processed a tax objection proposed by BCA and turned it down. But Hadi Poernomo, the new income tax director at that time, granted the tax objection based on an official note number ND-192/PJ/2004/ on June 17, 2014. The official note was issued to revoke the tax objection refusal by the Income Tax Directorate.
As a result of the revocation, the state suffered a US$458.5-million loss.
