TEMPO.CO, New Delhi - Indonesia's Uber Cup shuttlers are going to face their first challenge against Australia's in the Group B qualifier today. Theoretically, Indonesia has more chance to grab the first point from Australia.
"We don’t want to lose points in the qualifier, especially [when it is] against Australia," said Indonesian double's player, Greysia Polii, yesterday.
Greysia, who pairs up with Nitya Maheswari, said the team must pocket as many victories during the qualification matches since the team targets to top Group B. The draw has put Indonesia in one group along with Australia, Singapore and Korea.
Greysia/Nitya, who sits ninth in the world rank, is likely to face Australia's top doubles, Renuga Veeran/Tang He Tian, the winner of 2014 New Zealand Open.
"Veeran/Tang is good, but we are confident to be able to handle them," Greysia added. "It would be our first meeting."
As for the single category, Linda Wenifanetri (ranked 23) and Bellaetrix Manuputty (ranked 24) are generally one-level above Australian players.
