TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is complaining of some news that government officials are no longer working properly as they are busy with their private matters approaching the end of their tenures.
"No government activity, that is wrong. Our contract will end on October 20," he said.
The president said the news surfaced as the government frequently organized closed meetings that had deprived the media of access to governmental activities post the parliamentary elections.
Yudhoyono said he organized a limited cabinet meeting a couple of days ago to craft new investment policies and forecast the economic situation six months from now. These two issues, he added, were deemed crucial as part of the government’s attempts to ensure economic stability amid the elections.
The president is scheduled today to preside over a meeting with the National Land Agency (BPN) and the Trade Ministry. The meeting aims at leveraging the role of BPN in the economic development process and discussing trade issues, particularly in the international level.
