TEMPO.CO, Jayapura - As the host of National Sports Week (PON) XX that will be held in the year 2020, the Government of Papua province needs a budget of around Rp7 trillion. "The budget will be taken from APBD (Regional budget), APBN (State budget) and a third party funding," said Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, yesterday.
Lukas said the third party will involve few foreign investors, such as Korea, China and Japan. "This time we are exploring cooperations from investors from several countries, especially for the venue development and infrastructural preparations," he said.
The Rp7 trillion budget is just an early calculation. "The APBN and APBD formula have been discussed in the Ministry of Youth and Sport. If our APDB is 30-40 percent, then 50 or 60 percent will be covered by the central from APBN," said Lukas.
Lukas explained that his party was preparing a big meeting for the establishment of PON preparatory committee in Papua. The meeting will also involve West Papua Province so it will be included as the host of PON.
The plan for the sports arena will also be built in five districts: Timika in Mimika district, Jayapura City, Wamena in Jayawijaya district, Biak Numfor and Merauke district. "One of the biggest venues has been built in Timika with the cooperation of PT Freeport Indonesia," said Lukas.
The most sport branches that will be competed will be held in Timika and Jayapura. The preparation venue development and athletes' accomodations are being processed in a land broadest to 70 hectars. "The location is in Kampung Harapan, Jayapura district, with the capacity to hold 50,000 spectators," said Lukas.
Early this month, based on the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) of the Republic of Indonesia decree, Menpora RI Number 0110 Year 2014, stipulated that Papua Province will be the host of PON 2020.
