TEMPO.CO, London - David Moyes came under fire as Manchester United under his command dropped below expectation this season. Former Arsenal player and soccer commentator Robbie Savage mentioned that the Scottish manager has yet had what it takes to help The Red Devils. "United is too big for Moyes," he said.
Moyes came to Old Trafford in replacement of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson. At first, Savage thought that the former Everton helmsman could fill in the shoes of Fergie.
"With heavy heart, but few alternatives, I’ve changed my mind about David Moyes," Savage wrote in The Mirror. "Moyes looks a pale, frightened man consumed by the pressure. I’m at the point now where I believe the job is too much for him."
Savage added that Moyes had over time placed players in wrong and inconvenient positions, like when the manager tasked the 65 million pounds worth of players on Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini not on their preferred footing.
Under Moyes' reign, the Red Devils have succumbed in both FA Cup and League Cup. In Premier League, they now sit at seventh, collecting only 51 points out of 31 matches. United' sole hope is in Champions League, in which they will have to face defending champion Bayern Munich in the quarterfinal next week.
