TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - Bekasi Traffic Police recorded the increase on private vehicles entering Bekasi homecoming route, especially Jl. Raya Kalimalang to Cikampek. "Four-wheeled vehicles tend to pass the main road," said Traffic Police Chief Adj. Comr. Suryono Giri, on Sunday, June 10.
Suryono said the officers noted there were some 2,000 cars passing the main road to Cikampek until 20:00 local times which most of them were out from Cikunir toll gate. "We set up 18 security points along Jl. Kalimalang," he said.
According to Suryono, Kalimalang route is an alternative route for homecomers heading to Central Java through the northern coastal route. "So far, the situation remains quite conducive, the traffic is smooth without obstacles," he said.
Traffic Police Chief for Accident Unit First Inspector Daimus said since D day -7 of Eid, there were no traffic accidents recorded in his area. "We urge the road users to keep the order because the accident commonly caused by traffic negligence," said Daimus.
Based on Tempo observation at Kalimalang Eid’s homecoming route at 20:30 local times, homecomers using motorcycle have increased after the tarawih prayer. The majority of them were workers who have been getting Eid’s leave.
