TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -President Joko Widodo has officially opened Presidential Palace painting exhibition Monday, August 1, 2016 at the Indonesia National Gallery, Jakarta. The event was also attended by top moniters and former President Megawati Soekarnoputri.
"I hope this exhibition can help inspire the people of Indonesia," he said.
The State Secretary, Pratikno, said in his opening remarks that the exhibition was meant to preserve the collection. He added that the palace hosts about 15,000 art collections.
"This is the first time that paintings from the palace are brought out and exhibited," said Pratikno Monday last week .
The exhibition displays 28 paintings and will last until the end of August. Visitors can get a glimpse on famous paintings from Raden Saleh, Affandi, Sudjojono, Basoeki Abdullah, and Dullah.
