TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspected that Cianjur Regent Irvan Rivano Muchtar and a number of parties has committed corruption against the Special Allocation Fund (DAK) of Education for 140 Junior High Schools in Cianjur Regency. The fund was supposed to be given to building school facilities such as classrooms and laboratories.

“But the money was cut from the start for the benefit of certain parties,” KPK deputy chairman Basaria Panjaitan said in his office on Wednesday, December 12.

The KPK suspected that Irvan and a number of parties requesting, accepting and cutting the payment related to the 2018 Cianjur DAK Education amounting to 14.5 percent of the total Rp46.8 billion. Of that amount, the ration for Irvan was 7 percent, while the rest was handed over to other parties.

According to the KPK, Irvan and the others collected the fund from 140 junior high school principals who received the DAK allocation for education.

The money collection was assisted by the Chairperson of the Principal Working Council (MKKS), Rudiansyah and Treasurer of the MKKS, Taufik Setiawan a.k.a. Opik.

The KPK also set the head of Cianjur education authority Cecep Sobandi, head of Cianjur high school education authority Rosidin, and Tubagus Cepy Sethiady, Irvan’s brother-in-law, as the suspects.

The determination of the suspect against the four people originated from the sting operation held by the KPK in Cianjur on Wednesday, December 12. The KPK arrested 7 people and seized the Rp1.5 billion money to be given to Irvan.
