TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The evacuation of shooting victims in Nduga, Papua, was hampered by the armed group.

“The personnel conducting evacuation are still hampered by the armed group,” said Commander of the 172/PVY Military Resort Inf. Col. Binsar Sianipar in a video press statement, Thursday, December 6, informing that the armed group was the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB).

The shooting of Istaka Karya workers was carried out by the TPNPB in Kali Yigi and Kali Aurak, Yigi District, Nduga, Papua, Monday, December 3. The group was led by Egianus Kogoya, the military wing of the Free Papua Organization (OPM).

The TNI has found at least 16 bodies which will be evacuated from the location of the incident to the Mbua area. TNI also found three Istaka Karya workers who survived. “We hope that more victims will be found while conducting the evacuation,” he said.

According to Binsar, the evacuation will be carried out from Mbua to Timika, Papua. “The evacuation will be from Mbua to Timika, not to Wamena,” he said.
