TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Lion Air Corporate Communications Strategic Danang Mandala Prihantoro said National Police Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team sent identification results of 20 downed Lion Air victims.

“The confirmation result is issued at 20:30 after we find a match between forensic and antemortem test and DNA data given by victims’ family to Police DVI team,” said Danang in a written statement, on Thursday, November 8.

Danang said Lion Air had passed victims’ body to the families in Sukanto National Police Hospital during a ceremony on Thursday evening. The delivery was given directly by Batik Air Safety Director Capt. Wamildan Tsani.

On behalf of Lion Air, Danang offered the deepest condolence to all families of victims. “As of today, 71 bodies have been identified,” Danang added.

Lion Air JT 610 with registration number PK-LQP crashed into waters of Tanjung Pakis, Karawang, West Java on Monday, October 29. The Boeing 737 Max 8 carrying 180 passengers, one child, and two babies, as well as two pilot and five cabin crews, went off the radar since 06:33 local times.
