TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The joint search and rescue team recovered the second turbine belonging to Lion Air flight JT 610 that crashed at the Tanjung Karawang waters.
“The turbine was recovered yesterday at 15:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) by the joint search and rescue divers. We have also handed over 20 body bags to the DVI team last night,” said Captain Bambang Trijanto at the JICT II, Tanjung Priok, Jakarta today, Nov. 7.
Other than Lion Air’s second turbine, Captain Salim reported that the joint SAR effort also managed to recover other parts from the crash site in the form of a tube, independent battery, recorder, and power supply.
“There might be several body parts inside the turbine since it is producing a certain smell,” he added.
According to Salim, the Lion Air turbine, which is one of the aircraft’s engine parts, was recovered from the depth of 30-meters below sea level. The first turbine wreckage was recovered by the SAR team on November 3.
