TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry reported that Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) leader Rizieq Shihab, who fled to Saudi Arabia after being implicated in a criminal case, was questioned by local authorities regarding a flag in front of his house in Mecca, that resembled an ISIS flag.

“Based on an investigation, Rizieq Shihab was questioned by Saudi Arabia authorities who received a report of a flag that resembled the ISIS flag being placed in front of Rizieq’s house in Mecca,” the Ministry announced in a press release today.

The ministry’s investigation was conducted by an officer at the Indonesian Republic Consulate General (KJRI) in Jeddah, who reportedly has already provided Rizieq Shihab with legal assistance from the Indonesian government.

Latest information the Ministry received suggests that Rizieq Shihab was already permitted by the Saudi Arabian authorities to return to his home. News of the FPI leader being questioned by Saudi Arabia police had spread among news agencies since November 5.
