TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta provincial administration visited Banyuwangi to learn how to boost the gross regional income through the tourism sector. It will synergize with Bank Indonesia in increasing revenue from the tourism sector in Jakarta.

The Assistant for Economic Affairs of the Jakarta Provincial Administration, Sri Haryati, said that currently, the tourism sector contributes 10 percent from the Jakarta's regional gross income (PDRB). Nationally, it was in the third position below oil and CPO in generating foreign exchange.

“Of the 216 tourist attractions, there are several places that we prioritize for the development. Among them are Seribu Islands and Kota Tua,” said Sri Haryati.

Bank Indonesia Jakarta and the Jakarta provincial administration since November 2 to 4 have visited Banyuwangi to study the management of the tourism sector which was considered very good.

“In Banyuwangi, many festivals are initiated by the community, the district administration only needs to promote and develop. This is a good example for Jakarta," said Bank Indonesia Jakarta Representative Head Trisno Nugroho.

Sri was optimistic that by cooperating with Bank Indonesia, the Jakarta tourism sector will be more developed to attract domestic and foreign tourists to visit.
