TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police set to implement the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (E-TLE) system per November 2018. E-TLE system is the electronic ticket using CCTV for its supervision.

“Per November 1, 2018, we will start the E-TLE system,” said Jakarta Traffic Police Chief Sr. Comr. Yusuf in Police HQ, Tuesday, Oct. 30.

Yusuf claimed the police only found several obstacles on technical issues during the trial since Oct 1 and that the officers could handle it. “For example, the tool connection with the others, and other information technology problems,” he said.

The police were ready, Yusuf noted. The E-LTE system application, according to him, would not violate the Law on Information and Electronic Transaction, Traffic, and National Police regulation.

Jakarta Metro Police utilized four surveillance cameras or CCTV installed in two intersections of Jl. MH. Thamrin, Sarinah and Horse Statue Monas area. The police planned to add thousands of cameras across the city. “We will adjust it with the agency budget. We will announce which one is allowed or not,” Yusuf said.

The supervision data will be sent in real time to the Jakarta Police Traffic Management Center (TMC) to be analyzed and verified, whether there is a violation of markings, police numbers, or safety standards. If a street user proved to violate the law, ticket notification and the fine would be sent through e-mail. Violators are obliged to pay the fine at least 14 days after the notification.
