TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is set to increase the number of corruption cases it will handle in 2019 to 200 cases, which is a 100 percent increase from its initial plan.
“We want to handle more cases next year; up to 200 cases,” said KPK Deputy Chief Saut Situmorang today, Sept. 5, at the House of Representatives (DPR) headquarters in Senayan.
Furthermore, Saut said that the increase is one of KPK’s attempts to further optimize corruption prevention and handling through investigations, prosecutions, and executions across Indonesia.
This will eventually increase KPK’s budget in 2019. Therefore, the anti-corruption institution added Rp432 billion into its budget amounting to Rp1.2 trillion.
Meanwhile, in terms of increasing cases of corruption, Saut said that KPK submitted a non-operational budget at Rp50 billion.
