TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Malang Legislative Council (DPRD) office looked unusually barren today after the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested 21 members of the Malang DPRD for suspected graft in the discussion of Malang City regional budget planning (APBD-P) of 2015.

There were only four DPRD members present in the building according to DPRD Deputy Abdurrochman. KPK named 41 out of 45 members of the region’s DPRD as suspects. Former Malang City DPRD Chairman M. Arief Wicaksono has been sentenced to five years imprisonment for the same case.

The region’s DPRD Secretary Bamabang Suharijadi said that he is currently consulting with the Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo upon finding a solution to the absence of most members to run a regional government.

“I was ordered by the Deputy Chief to send the Home Affairs minister a consultation letter,” he said today.

KPK arrested 21 DPRD members and named them as suspects, meanwhile one member has not been apprehended due to health issues. KPK suspects that the 22 members accepted bribe from non-active Mayor of Malang Mochamad Anton to approve of the region’s APBN-P of 2015.
